Here is the central question for parents. Why should I pay 85 dollars a month to send my son to PWA Rocky? Ask yourself the following questions:
- How many tournaments did you, your spouse and your entire family attend to watch your son wrestle? Many of our wrestling families attend 5-6 out-of-state national tournaments per year and several more in state. What did you spend on travel/airfare, entrance fees, hotel, food, T-shirts, etc.? The answer is $400-500 minimum per tournament out of state and $80-100 minimum per tournament in state. What was your return on this investment? Did your son improve his wrestling? Would you skip one tournament a year in order to WIN the others ?
- Did you send your son to a weekend training camp or wrestling summer camp? If he attended more than one camp - did the camps build upon each other or were they entirely different? Can you honestly say your son RETAINED the information from these camps? Did someone hold your son accountable to practice his new moves endlessly to attain muscle memory after the camp or did he immediately take a two month break or forget everything? Wrestling camps cost from $80-150 for weekend training camps and $300-500 for summer camps and unfortunately rarely result in any measurable improvement in your son's wrestling. Would you skip one camp a year in order to participate in a program made the difference?
- How much did you spend on the following for your son last year: candy, video games, cell phones, PSP's, DVD's, etc. What long-term benefits will your son derive from these items? Did they contribute to his long term fulfillment and growth? Would your son be willing to trade some of these things for a state title or a national championship?
- How much did you spend on gas travelling to various wrestling coaches or club practices last year? Did your son make a quantum leap in his wrestling based on this coaching? Did his coaches invest extra time before and after practice? Have these coaches ever watched video of your sons matches? Were his coaches able to identify specifically areas of improvement in his wrestling each week? If so - have the problems been solved? Did your coach travel to and attend the national tournaments?
- Does your son or his siblings receive private instruction in tennis, ice-skating, ballet, gymnastics, karate, musical instruments, math or reading? Do these instructors charge for their services? How much? The answer is probably greater than $85 per month.
- Finally, what would it be worth to you to see your son turn the finally turn the corner? We have been privileged enough to be sitting directly next to many of our wrestling parents when their son won a high school state championship or national age-group tournament. We can say without hesitation that such moments were absolutely priceless, and we look forward to many more.
At PWA Rocky you will see a return on your investment. You son will learn the best techniques available. He will be taught by Colorado's top coaches. He will train year-round and gain mastery of our techniques because THEY WILL NOT CHANGE from week to week or practice to practice. You and your son will be taught to train away from our practices rooms and will have an organized game plan and a reference point (via the DVD's) to analyze each wrestling move. We will teach your son how to handle the mental pressures of one of the toughest sports in the world - and he will succeed.
