At PWA Rocky, we realize that PARENTS are the people we can possibly help the most in this process. Let's face the facts: show us a high level age-group or high school wrestler and we will show you a mom and/or a dad that are actively involved - it's simply not a hands-off sport.  On many occasions, we have seen the look of frustration on a parent's face after the time and money exhausted from driving and sending their child to different coaches, practices, wrestling camps/clinics and local tournaments only to see their son hit the wall at the highest levels of competition.

Furthermore, wrestling is different from football, baseball, or basketball - a parent can't easily practice with his or her child.  You can't help your son's progress by simply throwing passes in the park, going to the batting cages or shooting three pointers in the driveway.  Some parents have no practical experience at wrestling and rely on their local coach as some sort of guru in which knowledge can be passed only in person and only by spoken word.  Some parents actually did wrestle - quite successfully - but struggle communicating their knowledge or take a back seat in fear of "burning" their kids out.

At PWA Rocky Mountain, we believe in utilizing the two most effective weapons in any successful undertaking: organization and time management.  Whether you are a mom or a dad, you are transformed from bystander to assistant coach.  We are convinced that drilling and repetition of proper technique are the keys to success, and you are put in charge of that process. We give you and your son a focused game-plan each week and teach you HOW to make the most out of your local club practices and competitions. You will utilize the Foundation DVD's, go through each assigned technique step-by-step, and will be able to turn each of your son's live wrestling sessions from meaningless brawling into focused technique development. Your son's victories will become very gratifying because you will literally be able to recognize his technical progress as it happens.  Your son's losses will turn from crushing disappointments to learning opportunities as we will work with you to spot the issues.

Don't let anybody tell you your son is not good enough, not tough enough, that he doesn't want it bad enough, can't handle pressure or needs to pick up his intensity. Those are coaching "cop-outs".  If a wrestler is struggling, we find that 80-90% of the time he simply needs to improve his technique and timing, and it doesn't happen overnight.  Let us help you, and you can enjoy the journey with your son.
